Abstract

­The ILS Lifesaving Commission and most guideline producing bodies will promote and facilitate evidenced based critical appraisal and research for the advancement of lifesaving science.

Persons with an interest in evidenced based review need to become knowlegeable about the options, process and results that can occur. This presentation will provide the basics for evidenced based process and how to do this in the lifesaving community. Barriers and limitations will be reviewed. How undertake the process, review the results and management of the outcomes will be reviewed.

Participant interaction is an important part of this presentation/workshop. Internet resources and guidelines for the process will be provided.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Participants will become familiar with evidenced-based review and a defendable appropriate process for scientific guideline production to advance the science of lifesaving.
  2. Participants will learn about resources available to everyone on the internet to assist with this process.
  3. Participants will discuss the limitations of this process, results management and guideline creation.
