Abstract

All lifesaving federations in the world have on the first hand to concentrate every possible effort to insure water safety by information, education and lifeguard service. On the other hand a federation needs a certain basic structure to be able to conduct its work. It's not only the assemblies, boards and commissions organising the activities or the people acting as volunteers. It is at the same time the important infrastructure of administration and finances supporting the realisation of the original tasks.

Especially the financial resources have an existential meaning for every federation. In most times they are just based on one or two instruments (members' fee or governmental grants) and restrict all activities. DLRG has learned that lifesaving federations, like in other charity structures, also have to install a brought system of fundraising instruments to become independent from single elements. Beneath sponsoring, foundations and commercial activities are nowadays especially donors gained by direct mailing activities an additional key factor for the DLRG budget.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Fixing the financial need.
  2. Knowledge about different ways of fundraising.
  3. Job sharing by fundraising of a lifesaving organisation.
