Abstract

Children and young live guards up to the age of 27 years are practising youth work in addition to the origin tasks of a lifesaving organisation. Such youth groups exist in every local group within the DLRG, characterized by their specific form of democratic organisation. They are practising youth work / welfare as a form of extracurricular youth education, pursuing intentions like forming personality and so on. They are conducting seminars, leisure activities, youth camps and much more. These activities provide the opportunity for the young members to spend their leisure time in a meaningful way and to become responsible individuals of the society. Furthermore they are bound to the organisation in order to involve them to the main activities like lifeguard service, education and disaster control when they get older.

We would like to demonstrate the way of organizing youth work by showing examples of the projects of the federal youth board.
